Introduction

Microsoft Project is the most used Project Management planning tool in the UK.. This one-day course builds on the aspects covered in the MS Project Introduction course to give a detailed understanding of the capability of application. It provides an initial re-cap of the methodology to set up a project plan as covered in the Introductory course but then moves on to the detailed aspects of its use.  These will include , outputting data via Excel, Dealing with complex Resource requirements, using the programable fields, special complex filters and handling multiple projects from a single set of Resources.

This course is intended for those who are familiar with the methodology of creating a plan in MS Project or who have completed the Introductory course.  It is particularly useful for Programme or Portfolio Managers or those dealing with complex projects requiring detailed extraction of data or who are handling multiple projects   It is also ideal for those involved with Resource management and using MS Project as a planning tool to control external operational activities.  It provides delegates with a thorough understanding of the more complex aspects of MS Project and taken together with the Introductory course covers all main attributes of MS Project

  • Basic Filtering
  • Output of data to Excel using the Map Wizard
  • Uploading data from Excel into MS Project
  • Handling Resource overload with Resource Leveling
  • Programmable Fields
  • Use of calculations within Programmable Fields
  • Creating special Filters using multiple Fields
  • Using the Special Filters on the schedule views
  • Using Special Filters on the Resource views
  • Combining Multiple Projects into a single Master
  • Using a Resource Pool
  • Creating a Master project from a Resource Pool
  • Resource management in the Resource Pool
  • Disconnecting projects from the Resource Pool
